THE RESEARCH CENTRE

In 1971, The Coppertone^® Solar Research Centre opened as one of the world’s largest state-of-the-art facilities for testing the effectiveness of suncare products. Research Director Patricia Agin, Ph.D., a respected photobiologist in the scientific and trade communities, has overseen the facility for over 20 years.

Through her diligence and the hard work of her fellow Solar Scientists, this is where we develop and improve upon the high quality of Coppertone^® suncare products.

Product Testing

Each year, the Coppertone^® Solar Research Centre conducts more than 1,000 sunscreen tests and substantiates SPF, waterproof and ultra-sweatproof claims for suncare products developed by the Coppertone^® brand. The Centre has also been responsible for most of the important inventions and innovations in the suncare category.
